MICOL HEBRON

Micol Hebron is an American artist, educator, and organizer based in Los Angeles whose multidisciplinary works display a strong commitment to feminist activism. She has been engaged in individual and collaborative projects in Los Angeles since 1992, and is now an Associate Professor of Art at Chapman University.

ABOUT THE WORK:

In her most recent work, enraged by the social media algorithms that flag female nipples as pornography, Hebron created the male nipple pasty as a satirical proposition: the pasty, a cut-out of a male nipple, is to be placed over the (seemingly identical) female nipple in order to comply with the archaic modesty regulations enforced by these networks.
